2022 YOGA COURSES
Evening Courses
ONLINE COURSES ONGOING
Please contact me via the form below for more information.
Soulistic Yoga Sessions are based on a holistic spiritual practice, rather than purely a physical workout. You will be warmly welcomed, cared for and supported throughout your yoga journey.
By keeping the classes small, everyone feels valued, receives the attention they need and benefit from sharing with like-minded people on a similar journey.
Class Content
Pratyahara/Awareness: A withdrawal of the senses, this is used for developing awareness as we learn to bring full attention to the body, breath and our thoughts. It is a very important aspect of Yoga, which is required in greater intensity as we progress. We become able to withdraw our awareness from our surroundings and turn our attention to the inner workings of the mind, at will.
Kriya/Cleansing breaths: This form of breathing is a way of releasing impurities and acidity from the body, as well as encouraging a balanced metabolic rate. It also assists in letting go of stress and emotional blockages.
Asanas/Postures: The Satyamvidya system is very gentle and therapeutic. We gradually learn to feel into our bodies after many years of disconnection; learning to listen to the needs of our physical self and not bully the body is a vital part of our journey. Individual sessions of Yoga Therapy are recommended for personal needs.
Pranayama: With the breath flows Prana; this means “vital life force”. It is directed through the physical pathways in specific patterns and channelled through more and more subtle nadies, not unlike meridians, in order to create positive change in the physical, mental and emotional layers of consciousness. In Satyamvidya Yoga, the practices of Pranayama are often synchronized with the physical postures and are used as a prelude to meditation.
Relaxation: Yoga has become one of the most successful ways of dealing with stress. This is largely due to the deep and powerful relaxation techniques, which involve not only the de-tensing of the body, but also the slowing of the breath and calming of the mind. Clinical trials have shown that 45 minutes of deep relaxation will lower the metabolic rate to the equivalent of 5 hours sleep.
Visualisation: By using our senses inwardly, we are able to enter into an experience of “conscious dreaming”. We access the intuitive knowledge of the subconscious and, with practice, also the unconscious and super conscious levels of mind. It can bring about a deep sense of relaxation, help us to see life more positively and change our attitudes, as we are guided through wonderful landscapes and images, releasing tension and stress along the way.
Mantra: As the classes progress, we introduce mantra, the chanting of single seed sounds (beeja) or a combination of sounds. It is one of the very successful ways in which Yoga is able to enhance and profoundly affect all physical matter, as well as thought patterns and emotions.

Student comments:
Soulistic Yoga has helped me to step through a door which I've procrastinated over for some time! Luckily, it was a very precious treasure that I found when I came to the class & connected with Maria & her students. It's rare to find a yoga class that offers both beginner-friendly postures & opportunities to expand within them, in addition to a supportive space where you can journey towards your self-healing potential & share things that are often left unsaid.
Deciding to take these classes & learn with Maria has brought me into a much healthier & empowered space. To be offered quiet time with myself, connecting in with something as basic as my breath, & being supported in observing my thoughts & feelings- emotional & physical... this is so much more than a work out for your body! Here, I have been shown a way to deepen my everyday experience & to nurture my body with gentle strength. Thank you Maria!
(Jasmin- Reading).
My husband and I moved to Reading for a two year assignment abroad. Feeling a bit alone, I decided to look for a beginning yoga class. I was so very fortunate to happen upon Maria's class. I had never taken a yoga class before so my introduction with Maria as my guide and my beautiful classmates was positively perfect. Immediately, I was at ease, feeling the warmth of acceptance, love and friendship from our little group.
As time went on, I began to feel a bit of a transformation from within as though I was peeling back a bit of callused layer from my soul replacing it with a loving layer of warmth and light. I was exploring my emotional and spiritual self like I had never done before and it felt so right. I will never forget Maria, my classmates or the beautiful experience I was allowed to share. Namaste.
(Theresa Durango - Colorado )
My life is very hectic; I work from 9am until at least 6pm each day and sometimes into the early hours of the morning as a Product Manager. In addition to this I've been doing my maths degree with Open University and of course, I do have a social life and family which need tending to. Soulistic Yoga has introduced not only a window of relaxation each Tuesday, but a whole new perspective on my life and how I live it. My life hasn't stopped; it's as fast paced as ever - the difference is that I feel ready and able to tackle anything that comes my way. I try to meditate daily and I practice the yoga that Maria has taught me at the weekend. When I attend the classes I feel refreshed and vibrant and I always look forward to the next class. If it wasn't for Maria and her wonderful class, I'm sure I would be struggling to cope with the demands of my day to day life, but thankfully, Maria has given me the tools that I need to relax and feel positive about each day.'
(Charlie - Reading)
A beautiful, genuine group of people gather at these classes and it was something really special that I looked forward to every single week. I was so sad when I had to leave Reading to take up a job offer in another city as I haven't been able to find any classes like this anywhere else.
(Anna)
Stepping into Maria's classes once a week is an absolute oasis. I really miss it when I can't make the class and am genuinely scared of ever leaving Reading as I think it would be impossible to find such an enriching, calming and healing space elsewhere. The sessions have supported me to become a more balanced, reflective and happier person, which I believe has made me a better teacher, partner, family member and friend. Thank you Maria.
(Katy)
Maria is pure light! She makes you feel at home right from the moment you enter her lovely studio. Classes are life-changing! I have discovered so much about myself and face life with peace and love. I am forever grateful!
(Mara)
Maria is amazing. She's very positive, caring and full of love. Even after I left the country, she's always there as a friend when I need her. Try her workshops/classes and it will change the way you look at life. Highly recommended.
(Norzihan)
Wonderful, gentle, calming, sensitive and restorative yoga, meditation and counselling. Nourishment for the soul.... I think everyone should have this experience. We'd all be happier, less fearful, more confident, more optimistic and feel more loved if we did. Its like a hug when you need it most
(Veronica)
My experience of Maria's classes and yoga therapy sessions have been life changing. I've been attending the classes for so many years and it has become a haven for me. I don't know what I would do without my weekly retreat!
(Annabelle)
Amazing, life changing, feel at home with soul mates. I will be forever grateful to and for my beautiful teacher Maria.
(Magda)
I have been attending Maria’s yoga classes, some of the workshops and 1:1 sessions already for more than one year, which are helping me to navigate my spiritual journey and awakening. I was looking for a while before finding these classes and it is just what I wanted. I am really delighted with Maria’s approach, I can say that she is one of those few people that listen and understands other ones with compassion and no judgments which provides the confident we need to go deeper in ourselves. Maria is very professional but equally empathic. I am really pleased to have met each other in this part of my journey.
(Ariel)
Maria creates an amazing space for healing, growth and connecting with oneself and others. I am a fairly recent convert to yoga and in her classes I have found a practice that centres on meditation, breath, visualisation and gentle stretches. Each session ends with ‘as I enter this moment, I am at peace, and all is well’ and I have found myself able to stay this truthfully and wholeheartedly each week - despite living through some pretty tumultuous life events. She teaches us joy and compassion and leads by example. I consider this both time and money very, very well spent.’
(Louise)
I have shared many day workshops with Maria and have always wanted to attend classes but unfortunately, I live too far away.
I recently joined the Autumn online evening classes and although I was nervous at first Maria creates a space with the same calmness and serenity that you get when in person.
Best of all I get to wear my slobs and feel safe and secure in my own space with no travel afterwards. For me this enhances the effects of the practice leaving me in a state of bliss and no external stresses which can sometimes be added on the journey home. I am so pleased Maria that I am now able to attend classes and share your wonderful gift with you.
